Gabriel provides strategic legal advice on complex issues related to Sustainability and ESG topics. At Swiss Re, he is the Lead ESG Legal coordinating sustainability and ESG-related matters throughout the Swiss Re Group.
Before joining Swiss Re, Gabriel worked at a Swiss consulting firm specialised in ESG and sustainable finance as Head of Regulatory Advisory. In this position, he helped Swiss and international clients understand the ESG regulatory space and implement compliance strategies addressing legal requirements impacting their products and operations across the globe. Moreover, Gabriel led a multicultural team of legal experts working on the world’s most comprehensive RegTech solution in the areas of ESG and sustainable finance.
I often speak at public events and lead workshops focusing on the legal aspects of ESG and sustainable finance and on the implementation of relevant regulatory frameworks, such as the SFDR or the TCFD. Additionally, I have been featured on the pages of leading sources of information on developments in the area of ESG and sustainable finance, such as Responsible Investor and the ESG Specialist by the Financial Times group.
Gabriel is licensed to practice as a lawyer in Brazil with in-depth experience in cross-jurisdictional legal matters. He holds a doctorate in International and European Law from Roma Tre University (Italy) and an LL.M. in International Law from Leiden University (Netherlands).
Moreover, Gabriel is a lecturer at the Advanced Studies Program in Sustainable Finance of the University of Zurich and at the Master in Global Economic and Social Affairs of Venice Ca’ Foscari University. He has also contributed to teaching activities at world-leading universities, such as Cornell University, London School of Economics, Sciences Po, and the University of St. Gallen.
