With 20+ years of experience in legal technology, Emily brings her expertise in intelligence, data strategy, data applications and integrations, change leadership, and process improvement to the delivery of innovative solutions for the business and practice of law. She is thrilled to serve as Director of Data Strategy for Holland & Knight's Knowledge Management and Innovation department.
For over nine years as an IT director for Haynes and Boone, LLP, an AmLaw 100 firm, Emily led a multidisciplinary team of intelligence, library, and technology professionals in delivering data-driven insights and solutions to support the firm's strategic innovation goals and client service excellence.
Emily has a JD and MIS, and certificates in legal lean sigma process improvement, data management, and data science. Among her accomplishments: developing and implementing firm technology vision and strategy; creating and managing innovative tools and resources for client service, legal research, business intelligence, data analytics, and market intelligence; implementing, maintaining, and enhancing the firm's relationship, knowledge, and experience management systems; collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify and address intelligence and innovation needs and opportunities; and reporting and presenting intelligence findings and strategy to firm management and attorneys.
Emily is also a frequent speaker and author on topics related to data, intelligence, innovation, technology, and the business of law, and has contributed to publications by the International Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and bar journals. She has served on several boards, including the UNT College of Information Leadership Board, and was honored by the NAACP Houston Branch with an Award for Legal Excellence for her statistical work with the legal aid clinic.
