A Strategic Approach to Addressing the Imperative of Holistic Health, Wellness, and Resilience across the Legal Profession

In an era marked by unprecedented challenges and pressures, the legal profession finds itself at a crucial juncture, necessitating a profound reevaluation of its approach to health, wellness, and resilience.

Studies continue to illuminate a concerning landscape: a significant portion of legal professionals grapple with the impacts of stress, anxiety, and burnout, underscoring an urgent need for systemic change.

Against this backdrop, Legal Wellbeing has been developed as a strategic blueprint, offering a comprehensive toolkit for fostering environments where health, wellness, and resilience are encouraged and ingrained in the fabric of legal practice.

Legal Wellbeing, taking place on 10th September, will explore the intricacies of mental health and well-being with unparalleled depth as we bring the profession together to usher in a new paradigm of holistic well-being.

LEAD PARTNER / HOST

Legal Wellbeing will go beyond just the human/workforce challenges to dissect the operational, strategic, and economic impacts of cultivating a culture of well-being that resonates through every level of legal practice.

This forward-thinking approach will equip law firms and legal departments with the insights and tools necessary to navigate the complexities of the modern workplace.

Join us as together we chart a course toward a future where the legal profession leads by example in health, wellness, and resilience, redefining what it means to practice law, and ensuring that the legal workforce is not only well-equipped to face the challenges of today but also resilient and thriving in the years to come.

Psychology of Wellbeing

Law can be a stressful business. The profession is fast-paced, and demands much of us. If we want to stay in law, we will do well to recognise there are some things we can’t control, and some things we can. This session will examine the things we can control, such as our thinking patterns, our actions and our interactions with others. This will help us regulate ourselves during times of stress, and help us enjoy our career, and be better leaders.

Sam Jardine / Partner / Field Fisher

2:05 PM – 2:45 PM GMT / Interactive Session 2

Process / Beyond the Handbook: Realigning Policy and Practice

This session will explore the critical need for law firms to move beyond traditional handbook policies and align their practices with the evolving needs of their workforce. By examining outdated or rigid policies, we will discuss how they can contribute to poor mental health and workplace dissatisfaction, how to identify necessary reforms, and realign policies to create a more supportive and productive environment.

Camilla Wallace / Senior Partner / Wedlake Bell LLP
